How it's paid

More than one way in. We'll meet you where the funding actually is.

Families pay for MAC three main ways. Most use a mix. We handle the paperwork on our end; you don't need to learn a new acronym set to get good care.

Option 1

NOW & COMP Medicaid Waivers

Georgia's two main waiver programs for people with developmental delays and IDD. Both can cover respite, community access, supported employment, and related services.

  • ·NOW (New Options Waiver): for individuals who need community-based support; lower service intensity.
  • ·COMP (Comprehensive Supports Waiver): for individuals needing more intensive support — including 24-hour residential where appropriate.
  • ·MAC is a registered Georgia DBHDD provider — we bill the waiver directly.
  • ·Your support coordinator authorizes hours; we deliver them and document them.

How a waiver session works

  1. 1Coordinator authorizes hours
Your support coordinator adds MAC as a provider on your ISP and assigns service units.
  2. 2We schedule & staff
MAC matches a trained team member and locks in the recurring schedule.
  3. 3We deliver & document
Every session: service note, goal tracking, and time records — submitted on schedule.
  4. 4We bill the waiver
No bill comes to the family. Coordinator and MAC handle the back end.

Quick facts

  • $ Annual state allotment for eligible families
  • Flexible: respite, summer programs, recreation
  • Administered through your DBHDD regional office
  • Often used alongside a waiver or while waitlisted

Allotment amounts and rules can change year to year. Your coordinator or our team can confirm current details for your case.

Option 2

Family Support Funding (FSF)

An annual state allotment for families of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Designed to fill the gaps the waiver doesn't — respite, recreation, supplies, summer programs.

Many families use FSF specifically for our respite, weekend, and date-night services. It's especially valuable for families on the NOW/COMP waitlist who can't yet access full waiver services.

We help you submit the right invoices and documentation so the funds flow without friction.

Option 3

Direct private pay

For families without waiver authorization, or who want extra hours beyond what their waiver covers. Transparent hourly rates. No long-term commitment.

  • ·Standard, evening, overnight, and weekend rates published on request
  • ·Pay-as-you-go or pre-paid block options
  • ·Sliding-scale considered case by case for working families
  • ·Cancellation policy: 24 hours' notice, no penalty

A note on the waitlist

If you are on the NOW/COMP waitlist (and you might be for years), private pay or FSF can keep you supported now. We help families bridge to waiver activation without burning out.

Ask us about combined private + FSF strategies — most families don't know this is possible.

FAQs

Real questions, real answers.

Is MAC a Medicaid-billable provider?

Yes. We are a registered Georgia DBHDD provider, billing NOW and COMP Waiver services directly. No bill comes to your family for waiver-covered hours.

Can we mix waiver hours with private pay?

Absolutely. Many families use waiver hours for the bulk of weekly respite, then add private-pay date nights or community outings on top.

Do you help with the application process?

We help you connect with your DBHDD regional office and support coordinator. We can also share what a typical authorization looks like for the services you'd want.

What if I'm not sure what funding I qualify for?

Call us. We'll spend 15 minutes walking through your situation and pointing you to the right path — whether that's MAC or another local resource.

How quickly can we start once funding is approved?

Most families have a first session within one to two weeks of authorization. We schedule a meet-and-greet first, then a paid sample session.

What's not covered?

Each waiver has limits and excluded services. We're transparent about what your authorization will and won't pay for, so there are no surprises.

Not sure where you stand?

15 minutes on the phone is usually all it takes.

We'll walk through funding options, what you might qualify for, and what a starting plan could look like — no commitment.
